“OCI Power is one of the few remaining companies in Korea that directly designs, manufactures, sells, and services all of its products domestically. We concluded that overcoming the challenging conditions facing the solar market requires securing global competitiveness through better products and superior technologies.”

Lim Sung-taek, Head of OCI Power’s Energy Solution Business Division, made the remarks while introducing three new inverter and power module products at the International Green Energy Expo new product presentation held on April 24.

The products unveiled by OCI Power are the result of three years of continuous research and development. All three products are characterized by their ability to surpass the strengths of imported products currently occupying a significant share of the Korean market while further developing the advantages of domestically manufactured products.

The first product introduced, the OP1100 TL-H OD, is a 1,100kW AC-output solar central inverter rated for 1,500V DC, offering a maximum efficiency of 99.4%, among the highest levels in the world. It is also designed to effectively manage the heat generated during operation. According to the company, this reduces power consumption and extends the replacement cycles of consumable components, ultimately lowering maintenance costs.

“We designed the unit with a wide bottom surface to improve heat dissipation and elevated it above the ground to further enhance cooling performance,” Lim explained. “In addition, unlike conventional designs where the busbar is fixed to one side, busbars are positioned on both sides, allowing cables to be routed according to site conditions. Rear-side installation is also possible, making installation and construction easier.”

OCI Power is also developing a 4.4MW integrated MPPT inverter system by combining up to four units. Two such systems can be installed consecutively, enabling configurations of up to 8.8MW in total. The standalone 1.1MW product has already entered the development and commercialization stage, while products combining two to four units depending on capacity are scheduled to complete development and go on sale within the first half of this year.

OCI Power then introduced its second product, the OP130 MMS TL OD, a 130kW multi-string inverter with the largest capacity in Korea. The product offers greater capacity than conventional 100kW models and achieves a maximum outdoor efficiency of 98%.

As the primary locations for solar installations shift from open land and mountainous areas to buildings and factory rooftops, OCI Power recognized the need for products offering higher capacity than existing solutions currently available in the market. The company emphasized that the product was also developed with extensive consideration for fire safety, maintenance, and other safety-related requirements associated with rooftop installations.

“The product is designed for easy maintenance, featuring a transparent front window that allows users to check fuse conditions and an AI-based analysis system capable of diagnosing individual strings,” Lim said. “In particular, users can immediately check the condition of the cooling fans, a longstanding maintenance issue with multi-string inverters, and replace them easily when necessary.”

The third new product is a 50kW power module designed for electric vehicle chargers. Compared with the 30kW AC-DC conversion capability commonly found in power modules currently available on the market, the new product offers higher capacity as well as efficiency of approximately 96%. By connecting multiple units in parallel, systems of up to 2MW can be configured. Its higher capacity also provides greater efficiency per unit area compared with competing products. Beyond EV chargers, the module can also be applied to ESS, water electrolysis facilities, and various other systems requiring power conversion.

“All of these products were developed with a focus on reducing maintenance and operating costs, ultimately enabling greater profitability across various power generation businesses,” Lim said. “Wherever our products are needed, we will mobilize the full extent of our technology and capabilities to ensure that we provide the best possible solutions.”
