[Industry News, Reporter Jeong Han-kyo] OCI Power (CEO Heo Ki-moo) has launched a new product in an effort to help address supply shortages in Korea’s solar market caused by raw material issues. OCI Power announced on the 18th that it has launched its new 100kW solar inverter, the “blueplanet 100 TL3” (hereinafter “bp100”).

Recently, Korea’s solar industry has been experiencing difficulties in securing products across the full range of power generation equipment, including modules and inverters, due to global raw material supply issues. In particular, the industry has faced growing difficulties in procuring components for 100kW solar inverters.

In response, OCI Power is introducing the bp100, an inverter manufactured at its German factory and designed for use with a separate DC combiner box. Having recently obtained KS certification, the bp100 is optimized for both DC 1000V and 1500V systems and is expected to help meet market demand for 100kW inverters amid the ongoing supply shortage.

As part of the same product series as the bp155 previously launched in Germany, the bp100 has already demonstrated excellent durability in the field. Its separate configuration with a high-capacity combiner box enables compatibility with high-output modules and capacities of up to 99.99kW without restrictions related to DC fuse capacity. In addition, separating the inverter from the combiner box provides the advantage of reducing exposure to fire risks.

An OCI Power official said, “To commemorate the launch of this new product, OCI Power plans to offer a promotion in which customers can purchase the bp100 together with a combiner box optimized for the product.” The official added, “With a strong sense of responsibility as a Korean inverter manufacturer with proven technological capabilities, we will continue to lead technology development to contribute to improved power plant performance and stable operation.”

Meanwhile, OCI Power acquired KACO New Energy Korea, including its R&D center and Gunsan plant, in January 2019. Since then, the company has been responsible for the development and production of large-capacity inverters in Korea as well as the sales and servicing of KACO inverters. In 2019, OCI Power became the first company in Korea to develop a DC 1500V inverter and has since supplied numerous DC 1500V central inverters to solar power plants across Korea.

OCI Power supplies a broad range of products that can be applied to both newly constructed and repowered solar plants, ranging from cost-effective integrated combiner-box models in the 50kW and 100kW classes to domestically manufactured large-capacity inverters ranging from 250kW to 3MW.
