Where AI, Data Centers, and Renewable Energy Converge
OCI Power CEO Sung Yeop Kim (Steve) took the stage at the Cloud & Datacenter Convention, held at COEX on September 19, and the AI DC Seminar, hosted by SK Group on September 22.
At both events, Steve addressed some of today’s most pressing topics: the rapid growth of AI, the resulting surge in data center power demand, and how renewable energy solutions can help meet these evolving energy needs.
⚡ What Is a Modular Data Center?

One of the key topics Steve highlighted was the modular data center.
While the term may sound unfamiliar, the concept is quite simple: a modular data center is designed like building blocks, allowing facilities to be deployed quickly and expanded as demand grows.
- Rapid deployment: While conventional data centers can take years to build, modular data centers can be deployed within months.
- Flexible scalability: Businesses can start with a smaller capacity and add additional modules as their computing needs increase.
- Sustainability: Modular data centers can be readily integrated with renewable energy solutions such as solar PV and ESS (Energy Storage Systems), offering significant environmental benefits.
❗ In other words, modular data centers offer businesses a way to respond quickly to surging AI workloads while also advancing their ESG and sustainability goals.
